Airport Information

The T F Green so-called-International airport is located in Warwick 9 miles=15 kilometers from Providence. There is a large number of flights in and out of TFGreen every day to/from non-stops to major cities in the United States and Toronto, Canada.

Participants may choose from the following transportation means to get to the conference hotel:

1. Bus: the RIPTA bus lines, goes from the T F Green airport to Kennedy Plaza, downtown Providence.  Kennedy Plaza is located within 0.2 miles=320meters (less than 5 minutes walk) to the conference venue and the hotel. The ride takes about 20 minutes (for $1.50) on bus number 14 Inbound .
2. Taxi: it will  take 15 minutes (for $30-$35). 
3.  Car rental: Most major rental companies are available at TF Green. Driving directions from there to the conference hotel can be found here (follow the directions "From Southern New York, Southern Connecticut").

The much larger, truly international Boston Logan airport is located 53 miles=85 kilometers from Providence. Participants may choose from the following transportation means to get to the conference hotel:

1. Bus: the Peter Pan Bonanza bus lines go from Logan airport to Kennedy Plaza in Providence. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes (for $22).
2. Subway and train: You may take the silver subway line from the airport to South Station (for $2) and then take MBTA Commuter Rail (it takes 1h and 5minutes for $7.75), Amtrak (it takes 40-50minutes for $18 -$45 depending on the train). From South Station you may also take the Peter Pan Bonanza bus lines to Providence (it takes 1h and 10min for $10).
3. Car Rental: All major rental companies are available at Logan Airport. Driving directions from there to the hotel can be found here and it takes about 1 hour when there is no traffic.

Traveling by train

The train is a great way to travel to Providence when coming from the Boston area. The venue and the adjacent conference hotel are 0.1 mile=160 meters from the Providence train station, served by Amtrak and MBTA.

With MBTA, going from Boston South station to the Providence train station takes about 1 hour and 5 minutes (for about $7.75). With Amtrak, the same trip takes as little as 40 minutes (for $18-$45). 

Taking the train can also be a good choice when coming from other cities in the Northeast. The Providence train station is between Boston and New York on the Boston-New York-Philadelphia-Washington DC line. For example, With Amtrak, going from New York city to Providence takes about 3 hours (for $60 and up) using Acela express. Note that Amtrak also has trains from Newark international airport to Providence. It takes about 4 hours (for $57 and up).

Traveling by bus

Providence is served by two major bus lines:

1. Greyhound bus lines : They offer services from many major cities in the northeast. Please check their on-line station list. For example, going from New York city  to Providence (Kennedy Plaza) takes about 5-6 hours for $25.
2. Peter Pan Bonanza bus lines : They offer regional services from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Maryland.

Parking Information

Overnight parking is banned on Providence city streets between the hours of 1am-6am. Expect a $15 ticket/fine for this offense. To park legally overnight, you can park at the RI Convention Center for around 18$ per day. Another option is  the Providence Place mall. If the car is not taken in and out of the parking lot, the Providence Place mall (connected through sky-walk to the conference hotel) will cost $22 per day.
